The UK division of MSN Cars offers the most comprehensive coverage of the latest motor shows, motoring news and vehicles to be released.

Its audience is primarily webbased, so a lot of video content is pushed through their website. We were asked to bring the MSN Cars logo to life, with a 5 second duration for usage as a bumper to the videos shown on their website.

The initial ideas involved creation of the logo into a 3D environment, which was modelled and skinned in Maxons Cinema4D. Once we had set the camera paths and animation, we used the butterfly part of the MSN logo as a particle, and rendered the 3D motions with a multipass render.

This was then taken into After Effects, where a final render layer of effects and glows were applied.
